My name is Bobby Chandler.  I was born and raised in Little Rock, graduating from Little Rock Central High School in 1956.  While a student at LRCHS, I formed a quartet known as “Bobby Chandler and The Stardusters”.  We sang “rock and roll” for school and various other local functions and in 1956, I signed a recording contract with OJ Records, out of Memphis, Tennessee.  One of our recordings reached #38 on the National Charts.  I traveled throughout the United States as a solo artist for a couple of years, singing popular music, until I decided to return to Little Rock to marry my high school sweetheart.  On January 11, 2011, we celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary.

Growing up, music was all around the Chandler family from the beginning, thanks mostly to our father, Horace Chandler, who loved gospel music, sang it often and encouraged us to sing and play.  We followed his lead, took inspiration from him and as we grew up, my sister and I began performing together, Betty Chandler Ward on piano and Bobby Chandler as vocalist.

A few years ago I returned to the recording studio and to date, I have recorded eight CDs.  The first is entitled “Then and Now”, a collection of gospel numbers plus a piano medley by my sister.  Next I recorded “Back To The Fifties” which starts with six original songs, some recorded with The Stardusters in 1956 and 1957, then nine new selections.  My third CD, “I Did It My Way”, features big band numbers and the fourth CD, “Bobby Sings Broadway and More”, features Broadway hits and other popular songs.  I have also just released a collection of fourteen original recordings made between 1956 and 1958 – eight original songs by Bobby Chandler (some with The Stardusters) followed by five songs by my friends, all recorded on the OJ label.  This past October I released a selection of Christmas songs.  So far this year, I have released two more CDs, entitled “The 50’s One More Time” featuring songs from the 50’s, and a collection of love songs entitled “Songs From The Heart”.
