Another Portable Computer that influenced the computer
industry was the "Osborne
Computer". This computer came
out in 1981, just before the Kaypro Computer was introduced.
In 1982 the Osborne Computer was very popular and over 125,000
were sold. In 1983 "Osborne
Computer" announced that they were going to make an
IBM Compatible computer, called the "Vixen".
The sales went down, because the public was waiting for the "Vixen"
to come out. Because of this marketing error, they did not
survive, and filed bankruptcy in 1983. I looked at the "Osborne
Computer", but it was not available in my market.
